On Instagram, Demi Lovato currently displays the pronouns “they/them/she/her.”
Nearly a year after updating their pronouns to they/them on Instagram, Lil Uzi Vert has opened up about their journey with their gender identity.
The 27-year-old rapper sat down with Berlin-based 032c magazine for its latest issue, where they discussed their journey with gender and how they took time to learn about gender nonconformity and the genderqueer community.
"I never hesitated," they said.
"But I did take my time to learn as much as I could about this before I was able to proceed."
"Taking the time to figure out who you are is a big part of what it means to be alive."
Lil Uzi Vert said there's a "certain kind of support" that the gender non-conforming community provides that people like them, who are discovering their identity, may not have felt before.
"Once you figure out whether you're here with it, there with it, or both, you're not alone anymore," they said.
"I come from a household where it's not okay to be 'non' anything."

Lil Uzi Vert, whose real name is Symere Woods, changed pronouns on their Instagram profile days after International Non-Binary People’s Day last July, without explanation.
“This community offers access to a certain kind of support that you might not have had your entire life because you weren’t raised that way,” they explained.
“But I did take my time to learn as much as I could about this before I was able to proceed. Uzi’s sexuality is unclear.

Uzi didn’t take the breakup well, as was evidenced by some of the lyrics in his music.

Speculation about the hitmaker’s sexuality ramped up in the last year after they changed their pronouns to “they/them,” wore androgynous outfits, and revealed their alter ego, “Leslie.”
The 27-year-old revisits the topic later on in the album on “Spin Again,” which they debuted at the 2023 BET Awards on Sunday (June 25).
In a sense-deleted tweet, Uzi said, “I only love myself.” “Same here, f*ck nigga,” JT responded. The World and had a starring role in the video for Money Longer. Brittany also inspired a series of Lil Uzi Vert’s songs.
